Letting Some Creative Juices Flow...

Not being very interested in sewing lately has left me with a little spare  time - to do what though.
Well firstly I did a little shopping last week, but not the fabric kind of shopping...
I found this little house/shelf at K Mart for $12 and knew what I wanted to do with it as soon as I laid my eyes on it...
So this......
 Became this....
I will confess I have "O.C.D" - Obsessive Christmas Disorder.....
I dragged out some bits and pieces and turned it into a christmas display...
This cubbyhole has a woodsy feel with a little birdhouse, pine cones and some little birds....The birdhouse was a 'rusty tin' birdhouse in which I covered in paper and added a perch...
This cubbyhole took me a little longer...I had some little timber blocks that I covered in coloured papers and then stamped the letters onto the fronts...
This cubbyhole shows off a 'cotton reel' christmas tree that I had made earlier in the year..along with a 'wrapped in fabric' bauble tied with a check piece of fabric...I did have a hanging string on my christmas tree with intentions of hanging it on my christmas tree but had to cut it off for this project..
This cubbyhole holds two little cushions, also made earlier this year - just because I liked the fabric and they were scraps from a previous project...
In front sits a little bear - he is about the size of a 20 cent piece...
On the top shelf is another couple of ornaments dragged out from my chrissy boxes and a couple of those timber blocks wrapped in ribbon..(gotta have pressies)..
The other cubbyholes hold a couple of ceramic christmas ornaments and a silver present box...
Now I am quite in-love with my glue gun (until I forget I am wearing my good jeans and drip hot glue all over them, so I have hot glued everything in their spots....it would have driven me mad to reposition everything every time I moved it.
I also played with one of those frames that have those gaps between the glass and the back...I had one sitting around for ages and decided to replace this inside with some pretty papers, a wooden christmas ornament, a little metal frame, and some gold bells...mental note - need more bells...
The bells are loose and can move around, but it is a little squishy...
Well that's all for me, I'm going now to see if I can get the rest of that glue out of my jeans....
Cya all..

Libby's Mystery Quilt

A little more progress on Libby's Mystery Quilt, block 5 is now completed..
This is going to be the centre block for the quilt, I do have to add a little bunting hanging from the shelf and three heart buttons, but I will do that after I have quilted it...
A closer look at the machine and pin/mason jar...
The teddies sitting patiently, waiting for a cuddle...
The Tuesday Girls are on a bit of a health kick at the moment and are trying desperately to be good so we can indulge in christmas (guilt free), anyhow, Teresa gave me this pressy on Tuesday to help me along...and you know what....I think I have sniffed it a thousand times...lol  Thanks Teresa..
I have added this photo, just because I like it....it was taken last Sunday at Sunday Stitches and I think it reflects our mood for the day perfectly....
That's all folks....

Sunday Stitches

Yesterday we had our monthly meeting with the Sunday Stitches girls and it was an extra special day because we had a special little visitor.   Tatyana brought her beautiful baby girl, Daria, to come and meet us for the first time...
Teresa getting a little cuddle in...
A little show and tell from the girls...Jeanette has been pumping out quilts lately so I am thinking she may have been the one to steal my mojo....
This is her Gossip in the Garden quilt..
Another top for Jeanette...a pretty christmas one....I do not need any more quilts...but I like this one, no you don't, yes you do....
De hiding behind a baby quilt...
Maree showing us her dilly bag...
This is also Maree's Gossip in my Garden quilt....
Maureen has been making this gorgeous little blanket, it is hard to tell from the photo but the little animals are all 3D...so cute...
Now I did do a little sewing of my own.  I am working on block 5 of Libby's Mystery Quilt...
Not to much to do to this one now and then I can put the block together...oh and by the way....I hate working with gold thread...just thought you should know that...
Another lovely day spent with lovely people...what a life....
Cheers

High Tea With The Girls

Yesterday, The Tuesday Girls met up with quite a few of the girls from the Sunday Stitches group to go on a little outing...   we all dusted off our "frocks' (which meant shaving some very pale legs),  and met up for High Tea at the French & Mor cafe...
I think we were all beautiful....amazing I know but yes we do scrub up alright, don't we...
Going down the table from the left to the end and back...we have....Susan, Deb, Marilyn, Maria, Me (Sandi), Cheryl, Lynda (head of the table) and back..Maree, Alison, Teresa, Norreen, Helen, and De...
Here is how our delicious meal was presented to us....my favourite were the little sandwiches...
Now whats a group to do when they find themselves out together....the obvious..."shopping".
After our delicious tea we all piled into our cars and headed to Quilt Essentials at Etons Hill.
I think we gave to owner a fright to see our group enter her store but she handled it like a pro...
She even offered to take a photo of us all...I love this photo, were all look gorgeous...
Shopping obviously agrees with Norreen....lookin good girl....
Did I burp or fart??? everyone is looking....lol
Norreen cuddling up to Teresa...(sorry its a little blurry)...
That Teresa is getting around, now she is cuddling De....lol  and if you can make it out...Alison is to the right of the photo in, what looks like, a mad dash to get a bargain...
After our adventures were finished in this shop, we headed to another place called The Quilter's Corner...
Check out some of the girls lined up to make there purchases...
A few giggles going on here...
Me...I have no idea what I am doing but I am pretty sure that the tin infront of me is the one Teresa bought..
As you can see from my photo, I was a very good girl...having no mojo these day helped, and three of the fabrics I didn't even purchase, they were gifts from the Tuesday Girls for being their designated driver for the day...thanks girls...makes my purchases look more impressive...
Well that's it for me...Thanks girls for coming along yesterday, it was a fabulous day, lots of laughter, yummy food and shopping to boot...  which all would not have been so fabulous if it wasn't for the company - you all made it a special memory...   We will definitely have to do it again and soon...

Stitchers Dream Day Out

Yesterday, The Tuesday Girls went to the Stitchers Dream Day Out, hosted by the lovely Quilters Angel in Highfields..
Our two designers for the day were the very talented Libby Richardson and Debbie McGee....
I thought I was going to struggle a bit today, my mojo has run away, again...it has been missing for about a month now, so much so, that last time the Tuesday Girls got together, I sat and cut out circles from cardboard just so I didn't have to stitch...don't ask what the circles are for cause I have no idea, just seemed like a better thing to do than stitch...Anyhow.....
Pressies on arrival....
What was inside out goodie bags....
We were all sitting together at table number 1....say "hi" Teresa...
I think we were up front because they had heard of out reputation for being the naughty ones....
Here are some of the projects the designers had us playing with today....
A cute teddy cushion....we all did a painting class with Libby, but I will show you my effort later..
An embroidered teddy cameo on the front of a journal....
A memory board...I have already stitched two of the stitchery words for this....you never know, I might get round to finishing it.....but then again.....
A lovely little lap pillow, for when you are sewing while watching TV, the top flap lifts up to reveal a sewing essentials keepsake area....and you can rest on the pillow to bring your stitching up a little higher...think I will add this to my....yeah if I get round to it - List....
Here is inside the pillow....cute isn't it...
A butterfly needlecase being held by our lovely Norreen......
Here is my painting of the teddy bear pieces, all ready to be cut out and appliqued onto something, yeah I know....just add it to the list....
Helen practicing her painting....she didn't want to smile for me, so I had to threaten to come over there and tickle her....
For those of you who follow me on facebook, and don't worry if you don't cause it is totally boring, I don't use facebook very much, I had a little tanty the other day...you see, I have been looking forward to fathers day ending so all the stores would fill their shelves with christmas items....you know that cheap, foreign made, tacky decorations that one just has to have...well, every time I went out, there were none to be found, and I was getting a little impatient...so I had a little rant on facebook about it..
Anyhow, the lovely De, whom came to The Stitchers Dream Day Out, gave me a little pressy....just so I could get a 'fix'....De surprised me with this gorgeous santa garden light, I am tickled pink...how cute is he....I am so going to put him near the front door for everyone to admire...(the girls did give me a little ribbing about the fact that I would have a 'red' light at the front of my home).   Thank you again De, I felt like Queen Christmas with my santa septre.....woo hoo...
Not only did I get a lovely pressy from De, but on the day that I was having my tanty, Teresa , one of the Tuesday Girls, was at work when she had read what I had written....so she sent me this photo of the 'staff' christmas tree, wrapped in plastic, so I could have a 'fix' too...this made my night too...knowing that even though I couldn't see it yet, it was definitely coming....Thank you Teresa, I loved the photo....

I have no photo's to show of our lunch from our day out - it was much to healthy for The Tuesday Girls, and really totally not photo worthy, but on the way home we did make up for our sugarless day....
I had the flourless white chocolate cheesecake with raspberries...mmmm and yes is tasted just as good as it looked...
And of course, a little shopping just had to happen....
My purchases....A kit to make this bag....
Some tilda fabric and pegs....not sure why on earth I am buying fabric for when I am not sewing at the moment....I bought a set of these lovely pegs and gave one to each of the Tuesday Girls as a reminder of our day out...they are soooo cute...
Some woolfelt and an array of pretty colours...
Enough fabric to make the sewing cushion....
And some handy spotty fabrics....maybe for a chrissy project...
Now that's it for me, a fantastic weekend...good friends, a little sewing, some yummy foods and some shopping, what more could a girl want....yes that's right.....and a little bit of christmas....can I purr now.....feeling very contented at the moment...love you girls......you make our outings purrfect...
cheers..
