Look what came today...

This parcel came for me today which is great news, but with all things in life - there is usually a catch and for this surprise it is....it can not be opened until Saturday for my birthday...
This is my pressy from the On-line Friends In Stitching Group in which I am lucky enough to be a
member of...but having to wait til Saturday...come on...how much will power do you think this little black duck has....so unfair....but I will wait... if I must...
Now for some other bits and pieces.....My new baby has settle in well...she loves company and has made herself at home in my sewing room...
A claim to some of my ribbon that was hanging around on the table...
Then maybe a nibble on some pins....(I don't think so...)
 A play in the basket....
Baby's new basket cover and pillow with a matching cat bowl mat...lol
Too tired now after all that playing, looks like a good place to rest...
Little puss still has no name...I have gone off Audrey after hearing my youngest daughter in the background consistantly calling her Andre...lol    Have been testing out other names...Teena, Macy (as in Macy Grey - cause of her grey tail and ears), Milli (but hubby keeps calling her Milli vanilli),
Casey......she is going to grow up feeling sooooo confused from being called lots of different names, but at least she comes when she is called...puss puss....
Anyhow I am sure a name will be chosen soon....the pressure is killing me...lol
Catchya all later...

An Early Birthday Pressie...

I want you all to meet the newest member of our family....my new baby....
Sorry Helen, you may not want to visit me anymore....I have let the enemy move in...
I have been thinking of getting a cat for a while but as usual I am always waiting for the sign...
that special feeling you get when you just know....and as soon as I saw her blue eyes I knew she would come home with me....
I havent chosen a name for her yet....I am kinda tossing between Teena and Audrey (after Audrey Hepburn of course)...but nothing is set in stone - yet.....
No name is a Ragdoll bitsa.....and so far I think she is pretty clueless cause she keeps following my two year old grandson around....maybe she likes being treated rough....she was/is the  runt of the litter, hence being a little small for her age - 8 weeks...
Anyway that's it for now...I will let you know her name when I know.....I am already thinking - cat bowl mug rugs and pillows and blankets just for her....(stop laughing Helen)....
Catchya all later...

Sunday Stitches March Get-together

Well another fun filled day, jammed packed with loads of food, sewing, laughter and friends...
I did actually get some sewing done...well ok just a little bit of stitching - I would love to say that I completed all this stitching in one session, but that would be a lie...but maybe I did stitch about half of this project.
Some of the girls are doing a stitch-a-long, and here is there first block...
Left to right...Maree, De, Teresa and Jeanette...
There blocks are all looking lovely...maybe I should be doing this one as well...no I do not need to start another quilt....no I do not need to start another quilt......no...I...
Now in this photo you may be wondering what they are all laughing at, and that there is an extra person in the line...that person just might be the talented - Cheryl - she is one of the girls doing this quilt and as you can see, she is hanging her head in shame because she did not do her homework...
I wonder if she should right out some lines....I must do my homework....mmm say 100 times or more...
Anyhow that's all for me today....might catch you all next week...

So Sorry.....

What for you may be asking....well I know there are a few fellow bloggers that just absolutely hate Mug Rugs...and to tell the truth, I use to be one of them.   I could not understand why anyone would make a little mat just for your mug...
Well I now have to confess that I do like them...I use one all the time for my sewing table - keeps the moisture off my table and away from my sewing...
I also use one on my bedside table (not that I am confessing to taking anything edible to bed)...
My goal this year has been to finish off my UFO's, and to use the fabric that I have..and not to add to my stash unnecessarily...now you have to think of the second part as a diet...I tend to be sometimes good and the other times....well you get the picture...but today I managed to use only my scraps on some little projects...MUG RUG's just seem to be multiplying and what a good way to use up some scraps...pity it has not even made a dint in the pile but its a start...
Here are my first ones...I started with the little panel piece in the middle, that I had hanging around...
Then I got a little more adventurous...blues and browns have been calling to me lately so I rummaged through my stash for colours in this range and here is what I came up with.  I didn't have to much of the cup fabric left so I had to be careful how I cut them.
After finishing the blue and brown mug rugs I had just a little left over so it seemed like a good
idea to make another mug rug with a couple of appliqued cups on it...
Now for something a little different...the pink floral fabric in the background are 6 pieces left over from another project...sewn together and some raw edged appliqued leaves and ta da....a pretty little mug rug...
You may be think - what on earth is she going to do with all these mug rugs - I have no idea...but they have been fun making them...
I have also made this little bag out of scraps and it has been handy for storing my mug rugs in...
I might just add all the mug rugs to my gift stash...
Well that's it for today....I have loved experimenting with my scraps....I can definitely see more in my future, and besides it helps justify any new purchases that may head my way...
Cya all next time...xxx

Happy Birthday Keelan

My eldest son has been celebrating his birthday today....well if you can call it celebrating...He has been working on his diploma all day and didn't really want to stop but I insisted that cake always must take a front seat in life...so I dragged him down to the shops and this is what he chose...
It's a butterscotch tart - topped with pecan nuts and macadamia nuts....(I did threaten him within an inch of his life if he got any on the table runner....lol no I didn't)...
He refused to look up for the camera so alas I must be content with these photos...
Anyhow Happy Birthday Keelan..we love you heaps...xxx

Celebrating Teresa and Tereasa's Birthday.....

Two of the girls in our little group Teresa and Tereasa,  have birthdays on the same day so we felt this was a good excuse to venture out into the world once again.
The first stop on our trip was to Lynette Anderson's - A Little Quilt Store..

The shop assistance was lovely and took a photo of us together..
I can show you a some of the goodies on display thanks to being able to steal a photo or two from Teresa... the displays are just lovely....

Here are some of my purchased from this little shop...some beautiful printed fabric and some lace/ribbon reels.   The pack of reels came in 5 but no I can count, I know there are 6 here...Teresa bought a pack and shared them with each of us...a little keepsake of our outing..Thank you again Teresa, I know exactly where these are going...
After a little bite at the local cafe/bar - The Lizard, it was off to The Patchwork Angel...
The girls could not wait for their photo to be taken and are rushing to get inside...lol
Lots of pretty things to see and touch and of course bring home...
Here are my purchases from this lovely little store...
We headed into Buderim for lunch and to check out another little shop...no purchases were made here and I didn't even get a photo of my lunch, but I did manage to put down my fork long enough to take a photo of this yummy homemade vanilla slice...it was as delicious as it looks...
Must be time to head home now, well you would think so but no not us, we must be able to fit in one more shop...The Beerwah Patchwork Shop.   I didn't get a photo of this shop, there were alot of road works out front but we did find quite a few treasures inside...Here are some beautiful fabric I just had to have....
Before we left for our outing, Teresa had to open her gift from us...we did a lot of scheming and trickery to buy Teresa her pressy this year...so you can imagine her reaction when she opened it..
She had been eyeing these items while at our retreat and thought that I had bought them for myself, but then to make it more believable, I had even opened the boxes and place the goods on my kitchen bench, so they just so happen to be there when she called in last week...(Can't trust anyone can you??)...
Pressies specially wrapped...
Surprise.....hehehe
TaDa...manage to steal another photo...just need one of Tereasa's pressy now...
I may not have a photo of Tereasa's pressy yet but I did get one just after she unwrapped it..
Tereasa's gift was purchased in while we were retreating in Warwick as well.  I did warn you that you just can not trust anyone..
Anyway, even though we were totally exhausted on the way home and had to sit in traffic for quite a while, we did seem to laugh and giggle the whole way....hey what can I say...when you are tired, EVERYTHING and ANYTHING can seem funny...  If laughing was a form of exercise then we would all need to put on weight, cause we would be a car load of skinny mini's........lol
Alright enough chit chat...Fabulous day, great company and special friends....what more can a girl want....catchya all later.....xxxxxxx
