Friends In Stitching Swap

Look what came for me during the week, and I wasn't allowed to open it until today - well actually it was suppose to be tonight but I spoke to my swap partner about being out of town tonight and she was lovely and gave me permission to open it early...
My lovely partner in this swap was the fabulous Peg...

Just look at the gorgeous fabric my swap is wrapped in...I am already making plans for this material..
It has my favourite flower - roses  all over it....wonder what's inside...ok I will show you, but it's too
pretty, cant I just look at it a bit longer....

Oh wow Peg, its beautiful...I love the stitchery on the front...reminds me of the Friends In Stitching Girls...and there is also one of Peg's famous Journals....I have always secretly wanted one of Peg's
Journals, they always look so pretty and now I have my very own...Thank you so much Peg, I love my bag and Journal heaps...

Now what else did I find in my parcel...loads of stuff...I have been very spoilt...
There is a matching Zipper pouch, Tissue holder and Torch bag...The torch bag is to hold a very handy led light torch in...beautiful fabrics....
You will also notice a very handy key fob and some hand cream.  I have already tried the hand cream
and it is fantastic - I am a bit fussy when it comes to hand creams, sometimes they are too thick in texture but this one is silky smooth, I love it..

Here is a close up of the matching set... they are just so pretty...

MMM did I mention there was something edible in the parcel....breakfast maybe....lol
Some Peggy Pig and Pals and some Lindt Chocolate...ok maybe not breakfast food but I plan to take these away with me today...I will just slip them in my luggage...yum
Lotsa Hugs and Kisses heading your way Peg, I love my parcel....can you hear me purring...
I hope all the swaps go well tonight..I cant wait to get back and check them all out..

Now I am just going to add a couple of finishes to the end of this blog...but I will be quick...
Our Tuesday Girls are working on the - It's Time For Christmas - BOM quilt that is in the Homespun magazine and I have finished my August's blocks.

I'm on a roll...I have also finished a couple of Christmas gifts ...I wonder who for?

Ok that's it for me....I said I would be quick....Have fun tonight girls with yours swaps...and Thank you heaps Peg, you have spoilt me rotten....mmm is it still too early for chocolate...I wonder...
cheers    xxxx

The Tuesday Girls...out and about again

Today Tuesday Girls went to Devon Pixies for a High Tea - why you may be asking???
Well to tell you the truth we had no reason at all.  Who needs a reason to spend time with great friends and yummy food...
Devon Pixies is not to far from where we live and unfortunately we had such a good time that we are planning on going back again and again... the unfortunate part is for my waist line....oh well - maybe I can walk home....lol
From left to right - Laurel (aka Lush), Me (aka Sandi), Teresa (aka Cassie), infront Nor (aka Norreen), and Helen (aka Mrs Sparrow)....don't we look like proper ladies...ok stop laughing...

If you look closely here you can spot a food blogger or two...lol

Today I learnt something new - I love cucumber sandwiches.....where have they been all my life,
why haven't I tasted them sooner....who has been holding out on me...time to stock up I think....
Look at this wonderful chocolate cupcake....yummmmmm

I made a couple of little purchases - a keepsake bookmark to remind me of today and a Christmas
ceramic cupcake to put away til December...

I had the most wonderful time today, some of the girls have had a tough week and it was lovely to
laugh with each other and be there for each other...friends are truly an important part of life and I think I have some of the greatest friends anyone can have....

Now for something more home related....My boys have been playing cards amongst themselves lately, and from another room I can often hear them laughing and chatting and sometimes being the fool but it warms my heart to think they just like each other...they are all different in personalities, they range in age from 18 - 23 and for some reason lately they have all been growing facial hair..I am hoping there is not a bet going with a razor not in sight for a while...but they are my boys and I love them dearly and to top things off - they even posed for this photo without tooo much encouragement..
just lots of joking about who is the tallest...
Yes your right, I am a little bit - deep and meaningful - tonight...remembering family that has passed or thinking of friends who have lost love ones....I want to always remind myself to enjoy the little things - Life is just too Short....
Left to right - my youngest son - Jaxon, my middle son - James and my eldest son - Keelan...

That's all for me tonight....I sign off with the sounds of laughter still coming from the other end of the house and nope I would not change a thing....(unless they are still making noise at some ungodly hour)..lol
cheers all and may all your dreams come true...

What does a new teacup need?...

A new mug rug of course..
Today I finished this mug rug from my new Mug Rug Book by Christa Rolf...
I have fallen in love with this book and plan on making heaps from it...
This one is made using hexagons...

A close up ...the photo is not doing it justice - too late in the day I guess for photos....

And to finish off - here is a little something for my grandson for Christmas.....his own placemat and coaster..
I am so glad he cant read nana's blog yet...

That's it for me today - short and sweet - just like me I hear you say....lol

A Couple of Finished Blocks

As you may recall, I have been working on a BOM - Harvest Festival, and in the last couple of
months have fallen behind due to lack of time...so on Tuesday I had the chance to do a little catching up...Here are the next four blocks for this quilt...getting excited now...only two more months to go..

I have also completed my first "Greeting Cards" by Marg Low...I didn't have a spare Theodora
Cleave button on hand so improvised with this star button...I used scraps from my stash for this project and I plan on making heaps more, they are very easy to do..
Front view..

Inside View... it has a little pocket to put a gift card in or a small pressy - earings or buttons..etc.

Does this happen to anyone else...where has my cutting mat gone...I tend to get a bit messy when
I get creative, looks like its time to tidy up...and yes it is organised mess - I know exactly where everything is - at least I think I do and that is the important thing...
Why cant I keep it nice and tidy - I have heaps of boxes and draws and shelves but it always ends
up looking like, well actually, my 12 year olds room....maybe its contagious.

My desk....yep heaps of room to work here...NOT.
I am not going to show you the shelves above my desk because that will just amplify the fact
that I do have heaps of storage boxes and space....
Maybe creative people are messy and its not just me...I like to think that I cant have everything, and if
its a choice between being creative or being tidy then I will have to choose being creative...whats your sewing area like? Am I alone with this affliction?
Well I have to end now...blogger is being a pain and wont let me go past this last photo..
cya all later..(maybe when I do a little tidying up - Nah - who am I kidding)..lol

Saturday Outing with a couple of The Tuesday Girls..and lots of photos...

Not our usual get together but what a great day we all had...We decided today to visit the Ipswich Antiques and Collectables show, OMG how much eye candy can one person take on in one day...
So many pretty things and I feel I was very well behaved with only a couple of purchases...
My first score for the day was these three little ducks...when I say little, I mean teeny tiny.  As you can see by the photo I have place a thimble beside them just to show how small they are.  I have a weakness for little ducks and geese and fell in love with this little trio as soon as I laid my eyes on them... definitely a must have...

Next on my want list was a teacup, but how does one choose from so many for sale...I had another one in my little mitts when I decided on this one...I am a sucker for roses, my favourite flower and this teacup will do me just fine...

Now for some retail therapy - of the fabric kind...we headed off to Rose Patchwork for a little shopping...I have been after some neutral fabrics to blend with some of my stash and found these while visiting this shop...I also bought a layer cake and some red spot (for some chrissy projects)..

We then called into the Country Quilt Shop, here I bought some sewing essentials (threads, hexie papers etc)....Sorry no photos from here...
Now where to eat...we drove around for a while, not knowing the area, we were not sure where to go but the owner of Rose Patchwork told us of the local gardens - Queens Park...so off we headed to find this place...What a great place...she was right about the café at the park, it was fabulous...
The owners were lovely supplying colouring books for the kids there, a couple of the patrons had dogs so they brought them out their own water bowls, and then we observed the owner bringing ice creams out for the kids so the parents could continue chatting and enjoying their coffees...talk about service, you don't see too many places like this anymore...
The food was delicious...and the company fantastic...too many laughs had by all once again...who needs therapy....lol
Helen and Norreen...

Me and Norreen..

One of the waitresses offered to take a photo of the three of us...did I mention they were friendly too..

My lunch - something simple - bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato toasted sandwiches....

And for dessert - I really shouldn't have but who could resist...Honey and Macadamia Cheesecake...yum

We decide to go for a walk around the park and came across the zoo....I don't have any photos of here but it was a great walk and it was absolutely free....
There was a farm animal section too and I got to give the resident cow a good scratch....and I don't care what anyone says but I think he loved his scratch...
Now to go and have a walk around the Japanese Gardens...here I took heaps of photos but have narrowed it down to just a couple for you...

Helen stopped to take a couple of photos but we behaved ourselves and waited for her...come on girl, catch up...

So that's it for todays blog...what a great day.  I will definitely come back and I will even give the cow another scratch and maybe even the goats if they will come close enough...ok and the kangaroos and anything else that wants a scratch (no Norreen I will not give you or Helen a scratch...lol)..
Time for bed, its been a long day but a very memorable one....cheers...xx

Some Little Finishes..

You may recall my previous post, when I mentioned the little pincushion the girls brought me back from Melbourne, well ta da - I finished it...
I love it...it is so gorgeous....I love the colour too...great choice girls...and sorry Helen but I did it
all by myself....no help at all...

So pretty I thought I should put two photos of it on my blog...sorry..

Another pattern brought back from Melbourne was a Marg Low Kit - Simple Pleasures.  I completed this project today and then remembered that I have two other buttons stashed away that would suit this project too.  So now I have three ornaments done...
I love small projects....

Now for a revamp project....you may remember this little stitchery, it did have a smaller frame but while staying at Glenrose Patchwork last month I was inspired by how they finished there stitchery off... what do you think....
The Before Photo...

The After Photo...    The fabric bordering the stitchery is hand quilted but unfortunately this doesn't show up in the photo...

Improvement - I think yes, what do you think...
That's all today, hope to catch you all when I do some blog stalking....oops - blog hopping...lol
xx
