It's Not My Birthday But It Sure Feels Like It..

Lots of goodies today...a couple of The Tuesday Girls travelled to Melbourne to go to the Quilt show and to do a little  shop hopping.  I was unable to attend so they brought me back some pressies...
Helen gave me the pink money box (this is to save up for our next retreat), Norreen gave me the stitchery (it has three pretty buttons included with the pattern) and Lynda (whom I am still yet to meet in person) gave me this beautiful little hair comb sitting on top of the moneybox...Thank you girls for my gifts - I love them...

I had contacted the lovely Marilyn from The Patchwork Teahouse to organise a visit from the group...
This was a must, as far as I was concerned (not that I have ever been there myself) and I believe no one was disappointed.  The shop and Marilyn lived up to all expectations and more..  Marilyn was very thoughtful and sent home this pattern and scissor fob for me...Thanks heaps Marilyn, I can't wait to visit The Patchwork Teahouse personally...

Now because I was unable to make the trip I sent along some shopping money for the girls to bring me back some goodies...I let them choose whatever they thought I would like...
And didn't they do a great job...
Firstly there is this gorgeous chocolate case and little teddy...I am going to display these on my bookshelf...
These are my - non sew project - do that means they don't have to make there way onto my TO DO LIST...perfect..

Then there are these three patterns - these will end up on the list....
Do you remember my previous blog about a pin cushion that Helen had soooo much fun putting together, well payback has begun....As you can see by the middle pattern that I now have one to do, but I am sure I will have no problems at all...I will post later as I have completed each project..

Thank you girls for bringing me back my goodies...I cant wait to start them - I could make a habit of this - sending someone out to do my shopping for me, its faster than the post...
While the girls were away I did a little book shopping and all three books were delivered today...mmm more goodies.  Told you it was like my birthday...but better cause I didn't go up in age.  Maybe that's there secret to birthdays, celebrate them when its not your birthday...good excuse for cake too.

Well that's it for me today...I think it is time for a cuppa and a little read through the books...
Cya all...              xxxx

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Today is our 25th anniversary and I have just finished flicking through our wedding album...
I thought I would add some OLD photos from it today...and yes the quality of the photos are not perfect, you see I am feeling very tired at the moment and just could not be bothered scanning the photos to the computer and so I have just taken photos of the photos....not really what you are suppose to do but it is going to do for now...
Check out the 80's hairstyle....lol

I had pink tulips for my bouquet....gee I wish I had that waist line now...

So Cool...(So 80's..hahaha)

Ok that's it for memory lane...it did put a smile on my dial looking through these photos, you never know they may even look like other 80's wedding albums.
We have kinda been celebrating all week - we use to (25yrs ago) eat at Montezuma's Mexican Restaurants, so we thought we would try that again...it was so good that we went back two days later with our eldest daughter and our grandson....He thought it was great..

mmm...I'll eat that and that and maybe a bit of this...

On Sunday we drove to the country markets of Fernvale and while we were there decided to have brekky at the local Fernvale Country Café....I really could have used a room after eating here, I was so full...the café is wonderful with heaps of old time memorabilia - kinda like us a bit..we fitted in well...lol

Today hubby bought me a dozen roses... they are the most unusual shade of pink...feeling very spoilt at the moment so I had better not mention the jewellery I was given as well.  I have had a wonderful week with Hubby and cant wait for the next 25yrs...

This week of eating and celebrating has been a disaster for my waistline...the scales have been threatening to run away...oh well, it only happens once a year...
I did get to finish my block of the month for It's Time For Christmas (Homespun's BOM)..

Well that's it for me....love from the very tired, very full and very happy - ME....xx

Catch up....warning - long blog ahead - better grab a cuppa before continuing ahead...

Life keeps escaping me and I have been so slack with keeping up with blogging...so this will kind of be a bit of this and a bit of that....
I am unable to make the Melbourne trip with the girls this time round, since my son-in-laws accident things have been a little hectic and hence I gave my spot to Norreen (One of our Tuesday Girls).
I am so excited for them all, I hope they have a great time and come back safely with lots of goodies they may have purchased and stories to tell the rest of us.
As thanks for this, Norreen gave me this beautiful bunch of flowers...the colours are devine and they brighten up the room beautifully.  Thank you Norreen.  By the way - the son-in-law is recovering slowly even though he now has Pneumonia and his lung has collapsed once again...but his liver and wrists are healing very slowly but they are healing.

Now I have found some time here and there to do a little craft...First of all, as I have mentioned before, I am in a - 12 Months of Christmas - sew a long (cant really call it that now as this month it was scrapbooking or should I say card making)..I was at a loss at first, I don't do a lot of scapping and sat there looking at my bits and pieces for ages.  I almost gave up - it was just terrible trying to get my brain to think of creative ideas from what I had...I think I need some classes to learn more techniques and to be inspired by others...Anyway once I got going I ended up with seven cards..

One of The Tuesday Girls has recently come back from a holiday overseas..although we missed her dearly while she was away, we are glad she had a wonderful time..and she did bring us home some pressies...
I have a lovely doily, tissues and a thimble...my first thimble actually.  Thimbles are something I have looked up on the internet before but never got round to buying any...this could be the start of a new hobby.. We are glad to have you back Laurel and thank you for my gifts.

This week hubby and myself, with the assistance of our grandson, harvested our first crop of carrots.
We were so excited, I took them straight inside and prepared them for dinner.  Our grandson thought they were pretty cool too and helped put them in the bowl..

Poppy and Hudson chatting about carrots....and yes they were yummy..why they were the best damn carrots I have ever tasted, but I could be a little bias..

Back to sewing...
I have always wanted to pretty up our wood fire heater...I usually put things on top when it is not in use and have wanted to make a top for it...I am not sure you can call it a table topper or a skirt (like Christmas tree skirt).  One of the Tuesday Girls suggested I call it a Flue-zy which does seem like a great name for it - thanks Helen..
The back of the Flue-zy is done up like a Christmas tree skirt...I should have taken a photo of it for you all but I think I have enough photos already for todays blog.  I used a charm pack that Teresa had brought back from her blogging retreat in Adelaide that she had gone to earlier this year.   Thanks Teresa for the charm pack, it has worked a treat. Sorry the photo is a little dark as I was trying to take this photo at night..

I bought my very first candy pack from the Glenrose retreat earlier this month and have been toying with what to do with it...Then Teresa told me about the little book - Moda Candy Oh Sew Sweet project book.  I chose the design that I liked, used the candy pack - Double Chocolate and ta da....
Pretty neat and I even had one little square left over so I made a teeny tiny cushion with it...
I loved doing this LITTLE project and using the candy pack so much that I would definitely do it again...

Now for the last thing to blog about... The Tuesday Girls met at the Lovely Laurels place today and as usual she outdid herself with entertaining us with some home baking...lovely light scones with home made strawberry jam and cream from local cows mixed with vanilla bean.. and then there was dessert...lol   Chocolate cake with cream and cherries...OMG...sooo scrummy...can I move in...

We had show and tell today too...Laurel has been working on a Christmas flannel quilt....well done Laurel...was this one on your To Do List????  Very Pretty - it will look fab when it is finished.

And here is another Christmas Quilt done by the very clever, Helen.   She didn't want to be in the photo and kept hiding behind her quilt...patience is a virtue...we see you Helen...

Here is another photo of the quilt...sorry the photo is not of good quality - I blame it on the sugar overload...

Well that's it...sorry it was such a long blog, I nearly put myself to sleep so hopefully you were able to make it to the end...I will try to NOT let my blogging build up next time...catchya later....xx

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...what a week...

The Good....
This week I went on a retreat to Glenrose Patchwork at Warwick...
We all had a fabulous time, laughing, eating, sewing, shopping....here are a few quick photos...
I shared a room with Teresa and Helen...it was just like a slumber party - with pj's, junk food and giggles....on Tuesday night we had a Christmas in July dinner (hence the lovely headwear).

One minute we were getting ready to eat and the next most people at the table were taking foody photos...it was quite a site to see....very delicious though..

Now what on earth is Helen doing here....you might have to ask Helen or De for more information...
I don't think you can see it but there is a lolly teeth sitting on De's car...hehehe - naughty girls...

The cabins were beautiful (I want one)...decorated with lovely quilts and teddies...it has given me lots of ideas to do at home...

Even though there were lots of giggles, I did manage to get some sewing done..
A couple of cushion covers..a table runner, a wall hanging with matching cushions...

And last but not least, this beautiful little fob. Helen gave us all little pressies (in kit form) so I took advantage of the little project to practice my satin stitching...thank you Helen, I love it..

Now for the bad..........I did a little bit of shopping...here are some of my purchases..
Fabric (there is more fabric still unpacked), two little ducks, some rose coasters (my favourite flower), some very pretty cake forks and spoons, some threads, and a pattern (not in the photo) .

And now for the ugly....
On the Wednesday night I found out my son-in-law (father to my grandson) and two friends had had a motorbike accident...They were on a property 14 hours west of Toowoomba with a group of people..  My son-in-law was flown to Toowoomba hospital...so far he has got two broken wrists and internal bleeding (his liver has been torn in half)..There have been great discussions as to whether it was safe to move him to Brisbane Hospital or not...yesterday they took him to surgery to fix one of his wrists, the operation was meant to take 1 hour and took 4 1/2 hours...but it was successful.  Late yesterday his internal bleeding had stopped and his liver was not getting any worse (they obviously made the right choice on whether to move him or not). Today things are looking up and hopefully today or tomorrow he will be out of the ICU and deemed not critical anymore...
..The doctors have said over and over again how his bike protection gear are the only reason he is alive today.  He has no memory of the accident at all as he was knocked unconscious...One of the friends has been released from hospital already and the other will hopefully be release today. Please remind others to be careful and to wear the appropriate gear....you never know what can happen in the future..
This is what he might have left behind....a beautiful wife and a gorgeous son...

Sorry to finish on such a serious note, but if it reminds just one person to be more careful then it has been worth it...Thanks for listening....cya
